Hello?

Posted by sheryll-oswald (64) star about me on Aug-23-01 at 21:54:00 PDT Auctions

Coulda sworn a bomb went off for a while there.....

Rosemary - When I was in Brizzy, a Pom housemate persisted in putting vegemite, etc in the pantry, whereas all good Queenslanders keep such in the fridge. Now that I'm in cold Canberra, I do as the Poms do. : )

About to embark on several days straight of important meetings (translation: I am meeting with a bunch of accountants, etc in the morning and we will play golf all afternoon). Probably the last featured item of postal history this week can be seen here . This is another item I found while in Vancouver and could not resist. (translation: it was very inexpensive)

This is an airmail registered return receipt cover sent from Fairbanks AK in May of 1966 to Vancouver, Canada. The dealer who sold me this broke down the $1.01 in postage this way: 8 cents airmail, 75 cents registry fee, 13 cents for return receipt and 5 cents for postcard for return receipt. I bought this so I could learn something about US postal history. Is this breakdown correct?

These seem to be thick as fleas today.

Hey Kelley! How come my one neutral isn't marked as "user no longer registered", because the user is in fact not registered any longer? Please look into this for me. Thanks.

Jim

Kelley-- Do you ever talk to Daphne? If so, has she ever told you how upset stamp people are about the failure of ebay to allow the sale of postal history with swastikas on it? We are waiting for Daphne to get back to us. I think the higher ups at ebay just dont give a flying piece of vegemite about us. Sorry I can't stay. time for sleep.

I think Kelley has vanished...

What was that?? One stray post from a pinkliner, then *POOF*

Posted by kelley@ebay.com on Aug-23-01 at 22:23:35 PDT

jaywild, it's my understanding that since feedback is no longer "neutralized" when a member is NARU, there are no additions to that "user no longer registered" classification.

Yes, lavart, I do talk to Daphne, and I know that she's aware of the feelings of the stamp people, and has reported your sentiments to the appropriate people. What they are willing to consider, I'm afraid I don't know.

I did not know that vegimite could fly. ;-)

Michel I thought you went to bed to? See my last post!

Then why does the line remain? ("0 from users no longer registered") Also, the feedback wasn't converted from negative, it's always been a neutral.

And yes, what is it we're to be careful about?

Posted by kelley@ebay.com on Aug-23-01 at 22:41:08 PDT

Hello mendelbrot. You could ask antonius-ra about that. ;-)

sheryll-oswald, I am speechless.

jaywild, during the last redesign of the Feedback Profile, that additional explanation in "neutral" was removed. There were complaints and suggestions about a lot of the changes, and that line was put back. However, it's no longer "active" -- nothing is being added. Your neutral comment may have started out as neutral, but many did not.

Also Hello ! :-)

kelley@ebay.com... Thanks for the explanation. Now, could you explain me why you do this when the "company's policy" is:
"This board is not connected in any way with the company, and any messages are solely the opinion and responsibility of the person posting the message". Welcome  Kelley if your not talking for the company!

BankNaughty Now why would we want to do that. This is the stamp board and you are a naughty boy for posting that.

Vegemite....

I am an American (well, raised in New Jersey anyway).

I have had vegemite dozens and dozens of times in Apia, Western Samoa.

It's always fun watching someone eat it for the first time.  I have it lightly spread on toast.  It has a bitter, burnt, salty taste -- an unexpected flavor.  I doesn't taste like anything else (well, it doesn't taste like anything I've ever eaten or wish to eat!) so a comparison is tough.

I can see it growing on you as an acquired taste, sort of like bagels and lox (or gefilte fish).

jaywild - I really hate-hate to do this sort of thing, but here's an October 5 that I can't part with. Caption explains, Swiss Strubel 5th day of issue 1854, used for international use as intended.

Maybe I'm naive, but what are we supposed to be careful about? I'm one of the most sensitive people you could encounter (snickers), and the type who (troll) responds in embarassment to every naughty innuendo attempted on this board. But for the life of me a can't figure this one out.

Kelly is Ebay thinking dirty again? Has your trollop found another letter combination to screw up our posts. It would really help to have a list of banned words, so we could avoid using them.

Pink! Where are you?

Matt in Samoa... At last, someone is telling me the whole truth about vegemite taste! It reminds me of some local taste of mine called "graisse de roti". It's a  reminding overcooked roast pork stock which comes into dark jello consistence and we spread it on toast. It's absolutely tasteful! But it's not yeasty. Problem: never could make it like my mother.
Other problem: this stuff is available here in all supermarket but it's fake, made with bovril.
Conclusion: If I find vegemite here, I will lightly spread it on my toast like I would with real "graisse de roti".
Thanks.
