Mazatlán

I rescued a stray kitten from the street the second Sunday after we arrived in Mazatlán. I could hear the mewing, but it took me a while to find the source! It was clinging to the front wheel of the car next door, and its eyes were shut.
It looked quite pathetic, about 6 weeks old but with longer legs than that age. And it had blue eyes!
We decided to keep it for a bit and see what Marvin thought of it. He was very curious at first.
The kitten was not fazed by Marvin's attentions. In fact, it had a playful nature of its own.
Here's killer kitteh, ready to pounce on the unsuspecting hound!
I decided to give it a bath to clean it up. It was weak so didn't resist. Once its fur dried, it was quite pretty!
Marvin liked to drag it around by the scruff of the neck, or whatever he could get a hold of.....
In a few days they were playing together like litter mates.
Aren't we the cutest things?
Just taking a breather.....
Spending a quiet evening at home.....
Chomp, chomp....
Mrmph! Help, help! He's got me by the chops!
All tired out after a long romp.
If you have enjoyed these pictures, you might wish to look at a 6-minute video Steve has made of the two of them playing together. Note: Video is 60Mb, so may take a while to load.
See also my Kitten Antics webpage for more photos of the kitten as he grew up. He and Marvin had forged a strong friendship, so we kept him for over four months. Sadly, we could not bring him back to Oregon with us, and we handed him in to the Amigos de los Animales shelter on Friday 11 March. Hopefully as he gets more comfortable with new people wanting to pet him he will find a new loving home!
