We set up a hummingbird feeder not long after we arrived. Our most frequent visitors were the small shiny jade ones (Fork-tailed Emerald Hummingbird).
One got caught in the kitchen afterwards, and the kitten nearly made mincemeat out of it, grabbing it by the tail feathers. We later noticed a regular visitor who had only one tail feather - amazing that it dared come back!
We also occasionally see the cinnamon hummingbirds. They are bigger, about 4 inches long.
All the hummingbirds are territorial, chasing away any newcomers while they are feeding, and the cinnamon ones were especially so. One day we had one on guard on our clothesline for half a day, making sure that no other birds used "its" feeder.
Other bigger birds such as orioles liked the feeder too. These birds made a mess as the sugar syrup would drip out after their visit, and they eventually broke the feeder.
