Mazatlán has miles of beaches, with something to suit everyone. From Playa Olas Altas in the south to Playa Cerritos in the north. And beyond, to Emerald Bay, where the beach stretches northward as far as the eye can see. Oh, and Stone Island, across the channel from Playa Sur, is perhaps the best beach of all!
I plan to add to this page as I find the time.
Playa Olas Altas (beach of the high waves) is just south of Icebox Hill, and was the first tourist area of Mazatlán.
It is not suitable for swimming because of the strong currents, but is a popular spot for surfers.
A pelican taking flight at Playa Norte, where the fishing boats come in.
Steve feeding the terns on Playa Norte, while the young pelicans look on hoping for tidbits.
This sunset view from Las Flores along Playa Gaviotas (beach of the seagulls) south to Valentino's is in the heart of the Golden Zone.
Sunset at Playa Camaron-Sábalo (beach of the shrimp tarpon), Golden Zone, with Deer Island in the background.
